Financial Incentives

Canadian Film or Video Production Services Tax Credit Program is a federal refundable tax credit for foreign producers for labour expenditures rendered in Canada by Canadian residents. The credit is 16% of eligible labour expenditures.

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) is a federal refundable tax credit available at a rate of 25 percent of the qualified labour expenditure of an eligible production. The objective of the CPTC is to encourage Canadian programming and to develop an active domestic production sector.

Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC) is a refundable tax credit for corporations for eligible Ontario labour expenses on Ontario film and television productions.

Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC) is an 18% refundable tax credit for qualifying labour expenditures for those productions that do not meet the canadian content requirements. Information on other tax credits can be sourced from the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).

Ontario Computer Animation & Special Effects Tax Credit (OCASE) – is a refundable tax credit available to corporations that perform computer animation and special effects activities. The credit is 20% of Ontario labour expenses for eligible activities.
