GO Commuter Train
The GO commuter train and bus network provides passenger service between Whitby and most communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Durham Region Transit operates buses to the GO station and along routes within the town.

Expansion of the GO commuter service
Metrolinx is proposing to expand GO rail services from 500 m west of Brock Street in Whitby, to 500 m east of Regional Road 42/Darlington-Clarke Townline Road in the Municipality of Clarington.
A GO station is being proposed south of the existing CPR main line, west of Thornton Road in the City of Oshawa, and will be serviced by the proposed highway crossing. This new station will be within walking distance of Durham College Whitby Campus, and Trent University Oshawa Campus.

VIA Rail
The VIA Rail Station provides service to Downtown Toronto and 450 destinations across Canada with express service to Ottawa and Montreal. Rail passengers can also transfer in Toronto to Amtrak rail services for cities in the U.S.
The main VIA Station is located on Bloor Street West in Oshawa.
